Why Mod A Strongarm?

I mean honestly, I mean lets put it this way, I get some black Tactical springs, terrible, maybe a couple of Kg's better, I take out the AR, a little better.  I talk about it here.  I also play some lead Guitar in the vid.

So back to the story, I then break out a Pair of Holy Triads, BLaM!!! 90 feet one shot, 87 the other, both flat!  Why do I bother with this piece of shit?  Sure a Strongarm is 6 fire slam, but triad is 2 gun sneak, yeah that's more my style.

I just can't do anything with this gun, even i pull 120 arched, so what!  My retal does that almost flat in the right conditions, my Firestrike "Does" pull it off flat, in any condition,  a Stryfe has better ROF and with the right mods, range.

I just think the gun is too delicate.  The slide works off of 2, thin fingers of ABS, the catch spring is not universal.   But don't fear rockers, this is comming!!!

..and..they put out a 7 Kg  spring but, wait for this, honestly.  Will it be better?  Maybe but also the guns people mod better does, in fact, hinge on modder interest.  Obviously I don't care about this gun so obviously I am, well, not motivated.

In other slam fire news, love my 8.5 Kg EAT : )

Now that...is a real slammer!!!!!!

  3. Hey Chris,

I picked up an EAT recently and definitely want to mod it out. The only mods I've done previously are on a Maverick Rev6 (AR removal, stock spring compression, barrel reload access). Since the EAT is so new, it seems the tutorials thus far don't exist. I wondered if you new of any you could point me to. Off hand I figure there's the AR removal, new spring, and lock removals. I'm too new to the modding or blaster anatomy to try experimenting on the locks blind. Is it exactly (close enough) like modding a Retal? Those tutorials I can find.

    2. That sounds awesome. Also, I know this is off-topic, but I wondered if you could weigh in on your thoughts of fly-wheel powered blasters; like the Stryfe and Rayven, etc. In terms of durability and longevity. My impression has been they might be more prone to breakage. But that's not based on any experience with them.

    3. Pro's: Simpler, can use darts that have been blown out, easy to fire, simply changing the batteries put them on a competitive level. Higher Rate of fire.

Con's: Velocity not consistent, especially in rapid fire. Playing in the rain has been known to cause a shutdown. Noise alerts enemies in combat to where you are, Players that use these after a while tend to throw away ammo easier. TThis is why people like me favor Retaliators, Longshots and EAT's better, guns that use mainsprings.

  4. I found a decent tutorial on NerfHaven, which was helpful. If you don't mind, I had some basic questions about the EAT-12 and I'd appreciate your input.

    1. I watched your HvZ loadout video, and I think you mentioned your EAT was incredibly accurate. How'd you achieve that? Right now my EAT (only current mod is AR removal) is very inaccurate. I get a flat distance of about 35ft before the drop off. But at that distance I have a horrible spread of a 3ft diameter. Only 20% of my shots hit their mark. Any thoughts on what I can do to improve this?

    2. Some mods include removing the 3 locks: Mag, sled, and primer. I scoped out what each lock does and how it works, so I'm curious what the benefit is for removing them? They seem pretty sensible. But like I said before, I'm still new to modding.

I appreciate your time and expertise, Chris. Cheers

    1. 1, it has the AR in it, that is probably it : ( I haven't had another order for one yet so i haven't taken it apart on vid. It is using a Black Tactical V2 Retaliator spring.

2 Locks, loose the halfway cock ratchet and the mag lock, other than that, don't lose any other locks.

And thanks for appriciating me. Hit me on facebook, i'll add ya.

    2. I've been reading through NerfHaven and heard several people weighing in that the Elite darts are inherently inaccurate and the only real way to get better accuracy is to create your own darts and -- in most cases -- rebarrel your blaster. Ack! I'm just starting out, I don't want to rebuild an engine before I can enjoy driving a car. :) What are your thoughts on this?

I tested the Elite darts in my modded Maverick, and sure enough they're not as accurate as the stock suction darts. So I venture my EAT is mostly fine. It's dem durn darts. (????)

  5. I find stabilizing the darts with a ported barrel helps and also firing in bursts of fire or walking the shot. The Super Veloce' was originally designed to shoot .22 Caliber pellet weighted darts 80 flat. It's all how you play if you want to go weighted or unweighted. When I put normal darts in, i decided the potential range beat potential accuracy, because if you miss, you can always fire again, but if your effective range is too little against your opponent, you have to run for cover, as long at your darts still fly out somewhat stable.

  6. Ah The Elite Alpha Trooper. Just got Mine. It has a 5kg omw spring, ar removal and all locks removed. It shoots elite darts Crazy far Angeled( roughly 90 feet). For a Short person like me (I'm 5.5" tall) Its a really good blaster. it took over as my primary against my retaliator with a strongarm(Pegs Removed and relubrication) masterkey with omw stage 1 + 2 Unleashed solid.

Any recommendations to further upgrade my retaliator or elite alpha trooper? Any would be helpful
